Expanding zero-touch to all 9.0 Android devices

Google is expanding its zero-touch service for all Samsung and Android  9.0 devices via an update in Play Store/Services.

Users with Samsung devices now have a chance to select between Samsung Knox Mobile Enrolment or zero-touch.

Zero-touch enrolment is a process for Android devices to be provisioned for enterprise management. It provides deployment for corporate-owned Android devices by making it straightforward to configure devices. Moreover, it produces large scale roll-outs secure, rapid, and easy for enterprises and employees.

Enterprise can integrate zero-touch into their present enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution. Moreover, they can link their accounts to automatically manage and configure zero-touch devices from their EMM console instead of using a zero-touch portal.

Google said, after updating devices, it eradicates friction from device configuration. This is because zero-touch now understands which enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution a consumer uses and applies to auto-generated configurations.

Google added: “Zero-touch on all Android 9.0 devices is rolling out now to resellers and will be supported by all zero-touch resellers by the end of 2020.” EMM partners are presently adding the integrated zero-touch experience to their consoles. Thus, it is a new enhanced feature present in all Android Enterprise Recommended EMMs in 2021. With these updates, zero-touch enrollment becomes a more powerful tool in enterprise consumers’ hands, thus assisting one to mobilize with greater security, speed, and simplicity.

Android zero-touch enrolment was launched by Google three years back to make scaled deployment of Android devices seamless and secure.

Chadi Mraghni, Director of the Information Systems (DIS) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at O2 Care Services, commented: “With zero-touch enrollment, our IT team enrolls and configures devices quickly — they’re ready for use with the right apps right out of the box.” Further, added, “This process has shaved thousands of hours off of our device setup time when compared to our previous management mode, freeing up our admins to focus on other strategic tasks to support our teams.”
